Frequently Asked Questions
How do I collaborate with SUAAB?
We want to work with you! New collaboration process is underway for Summer 2024.
SUAAB defines a collaboration as a mutually beneficial partnership between two or more organizations or departments that help build useful relationships between all parties involved for the betterment of the entire UT Dallas community. Moreover, collaborations are important to SUAAB because they provide resources that we may not otherwise have been able to develop, bring in students that would not have otherwise been exposed to our programs, and expands the network of individuals involved in the SUAAB programming process. From start to finish, all parties involved in the collaboration should put equal effort into researching, promoting, running, and executing the event.
General glance of the process:
1.) Fill out an online request form (coming soon)
2.) If SUAAB/MT is interested in a potential partnership we will move to setup an introductory meeting
3.) SUAAB will make a decision on whether they will move forward with the collaboration no later than a week after the meeting
4.) For collaborations opportunities that are not fulfillable for SUAAB/MT, someone from SUAAB/MT will communicate this immediately out of respect to event planning
SUAAB plans their events a semester in advance. For instance, Fall events are planned in the Spring prior and Spring events are planned in the Fall prior. Therefore, all discussions of collaborations are ideally facilitated a semester in advance of the proposed event. Fall inquiries should be communicated prior to July and then Spring collaborations prior to November. Collaborations are accepted case by case. Not all collaboration requests will be accepted.
Please note that SUAAB is not a funding board, meaning that we are not able to give grants to different organizations or departments to fund their events. Rather, we can work through collaborations to help from a financial standpoint, meaning that both the SUAAB and the other organization(s)/department(s) have a significant role in the event’s planning and running. If you are looking solely for funding, please visit the Student Org Center (SOC) to discuss funding opportunities.
How do I get involved with SUAAB?
You can get involved with SUAAB as a committee member or volunteer. Committee members meet twice a month with the team. We currently accept committee members at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. Volunteers are recruited per event. Make sure you’re following SUAAB on social media so you’re aware of when the application process starts or email suaab@utdallas.edu for information on the application process.
I am not a current student at UT Dallas, can I still attend events?
The answer to this depends on an event-by-event basis. Our events prioritize UT Dallas current students first and foremost. Some of our events require attendees to scan a QR code using the UT Dallas Mobile App in order to participate. Please reach out to SUAAB via social media or email if you are an alumni or member of the public interested in a specific event and we will do our best to let you know what our projected attendance looks like.
How much are events?
Our events are free. Students get access to events by scanning QR codes using the UT Dallas Mobile App.
